Brake dust shield need or not so much Weird noises
I swapped out the old lx transmission and in the process i think i bent the dust shield for the brakes. I have tried to bend them both back but they keep making and awful noise. On one spot on the passenger side shield it looks like it already rubbed through from before i changed the trans so i am wondering if i could just remove both dust shields and get rid of the awful noise or just wait til they both rub through again. Thanx
remove it ,it does help from gettind pebbles and what not in the caliper but other then that really its pointless lol i havent had mine on my cars for a few years and it didnt hurt anything
Just wondering do they just come off when u take the caliper and disk off and slide off then or can i take it off without removing the caliper and everything. I just dont want to have to bleed my brakes and i dont know if i would have if i took everything off thanx.
you have to take the caliper and rotor off but just let the caliper hang you dont need to rebleed it as long as you dont disconnect the hose and let air in. They are held on by 4 or so phillips head screws, they will most likely not come out just drill them out with a 1/4 bit and then you will need to cut a slit from the outside of the dust shield to the center so you can bend it and take it off.
Wondering if its ok if i could drive for like 3 or 4 days with them making this noise because its my dd and i would have time to take them off til this weekend.

What is it a light scraping? more than likely your shield might fall off by itself mine did. If its just scraping a little dont worry about it the shield is much softer than the rotor. So the shield will wear out first
