Default new motor... need opinions

first and formost i wanna say... im not goin B or K series. im sticking with the D series non v-tec. i have a D15B8 8 valve motor that the bottom end is straight on. original miles isnt even 90,000. i have a D16A6 head that is being refreashed now as we speak. im gonna with D16A1/ ZC pistons. but my question is what rods and crank should i or could i use? im worried that if i go with the A6 rods and B8 crank ill smack the head. any healp would be greatly appreciated.

This might be best in the all motor forum.

i have all the parts i need from previous motors that are in good condition. ZC pistons are the same bore... 75 mm. i guess the only way ill find out is to mate the head to the block with SI rods and find out.

THE difference between D15 and D16 is the stroke.

Use the D15rods and crank and the zc pistons and the A6 head and you will be fine.

ok next question then is which intake? i have an A6, a Z6, a Y8, and an OBX. also throttle body's. ive used a newer throttle body on my A6 once before. couldnt feel a difference but would a newer one be better. all i did was take off the map sensor and block it off.

I would suggest the Y8 manifold with a B-series throttlebody.

The other manifolds you list would work just fine too, just stay away from the OBX manifold. I've seen it lose power on the dyno...on a turbocharged D16Y7.

i agree the y8 manifold is probably one of the nicest stock d series manifolds out there
