ok so im rebuilding my d16z6 and i was going to do the whole N/A build thing. but im putting that on hold and im gona build a n/a setup on my f22 that i got for $200 lol. AND IT RUNS!!!

but anyway in the z6 my buddy who owns his shop and everyone takes there Honda to him (so do i) he suggested to put ZC pistons in my car so then i wouldn't have to buy the aftermarket rods.( that is what blew me away. $400 for some rods...) and its cheap.
from what i can figure is my car is gona have crazy compression. scince im still using my z6 head.

so what do you think... should i do it???

o and BTW IM NOT BUYING A B-SERIES!!!!

all motor d16 is a joke... no point, go turbo or swap it.

I would def. put the ZC pistons in the z6, and yes ur compression should be about 11.1:5 or so.. I have a buddy that just built a n/a d16a vtec and put the ZC pistons in it, had the head milled .020, and did a valve job, and had 13.1:1 compression..

If you can rip it apart and put them in there, I'd do it. Higher compression is always fun

dont forget to build the top end and get the head milled and ported and polished and all that fancy valve job stuff and get a cam and titanium valve springs and get some good valves. after that and the zc pistons...your compression should be out the roof.

but in another way...i do agree that its either single cam turbo or swap...your gonna spend so much more money on the n/a build than what you could do the turbo setup.

lol but like others will say...its your car. have fun with it and make it what you want...it doesnt matter what other people say. because they have their own cars to build.

well the thing is... is at the track that i run at we have a bracket for N/A single cam hondas. so i want to try and build into that bracket. the fastest one ive seen in it so far ran a 14.1 and that ok... i ran 15.5's with a stock d16z6 in a EG coupe. but i am also planning on putting a all motor stage 3 skunk2 cam and the valve train setup.

after that im buyin a good alarm b/c im movin out to Houston soon...

15.5 on a d16 eg coupe is an outrageous time for a (stock) motor. 2000 si's run 15.5's on stock motors. i belive my friends 95 coupe was pullin consistant 16.1's with a full exhaust intake and a clutch on a d16.

yea thats what we all said too... before i got to the track everyone was saying Mabie 16.2 well my first run ever at a track i ran a 16.356 so we were ok that's good. but once i was getting my launches down and learning on a track some how i pulled a 15.5 out of my ***. i have the slip to prove it. but i usually run 15.6's.

thats with k&n intake, headers, 2 1/2 exhaust, no a/c and no power steering.

Dude, that is a great time to run with the coupe.. The car is awesome by the way, I like it.. if you do the pistons and some head work you should run low 14's, maybe better

that is good my friend was tellin me do the z6 motor with the Y8 head for good compression and great pull on V tec but i dont know how true that is i gettin a dual cam motor cuz i dont feel like SOHC swaping my SOHC car when i got really fast motor for cheap in my direction but if i was you heck ya for the ZC pistons on it and cam is good and mill the head down and get a skunk 2 chip in the ecu wit a good header and you should be good from there man

ok well heres the deal... i was told that the zc pistions with rings would cost me about $130 well come to find out there about $240. so i cant get it done. and also i just spent another $135 on my title and registration. and about to spent another $40 on inspection.

but my buddy found some npr pistons that r high compression. so all i have to do is bore hone the motor for a total of like 150 bucks...

Listen to what your sayin 15's 16's lmfao your talking about droping some cash just to get to 14's? In my opinion thats dumb. 14's is a joke. I was there when I first bought my car and I kick myself in the *** for ever droping any kind of money on that motor. Them motors are junk peroid. Unless you boost them. H-series FTMFW!!!

and then i had another friend that had a fully built B16 and boosted pushing 318whp and spent about the same amount.

If you read the honda books, it'll tell you that a D series is the best motor to build.. I like the d series, just wanted to go with something a bit bigger to mess with in my hatch...

Prove it. I call on that one. That motor comes with less than a 100 hp stock there aint no way your buddy added 250 hp N/A

A z6 comes with 130 hp, but yeah ur right on getting it to the ground it's probably bout 100 hp or so to the wheels..

im getting the block bored and honed to 75.5mm...

im gona get the NRP ZC pistons and have the ACL race rod berrings and the the main berrings. now ialso had a buddy of mine telling me that i should get my crank micro polished...

That's funny, I have a friend who took a stock B18, threw a T04S on it and made 310 whp for under a grand. That was 3 years ago. Motor would still be running if he didn't get tired of the car and tear it apart.
