same old...should I buy a b18c block or not?
SHould I buy a gsr/Itr block and build it up or just build up my b16(maybe bore it out)?
i searched and read some stuff and opinions are like split down the middle.im thinking that I should just get pistons/rods and a blockgaurd and boost around 15 psi and be done with the motor till I have more money.

ok, i can get a b18c5 block for pretty cheap , but it has NO crank..damn thing has rods and pistons(which i wont need) but no crank 
but......i can geta b20 crank for cheap aswell.what do you think???

If this is your only car, then you should buy a second block, so that you can work on it and still have a car to drive. Later then you can sell your block. And if you are going to get just the block, I'd recommend a b18a or b18b block, and then have GE sleeve it. When GE sleeves it, they can bore out the block so that you'd have 1.8L with your b16 crank. If you want 2.0L, then you need to get a LS/CRV or GSR crank, but your r/s ratio won't be as good as what you had with your b16.
The b18c block's main advantages are the oil squirters and the girdle. The oil squirters aren't a big deal it seems and the girdle you could get pretty easily.
If you can have your car out of commision for a while, take your engine out, and have GE sleeve and bore it, and you'll be at 1.8L. Then throw in some new rods and pistons for about 800 dollars. You should be able to do it for under 2k (GE sleeve GB for ~650) if you are careful with your money (do the labor yourself) and you'll be able to boost pretty high.

i can get a b18c motor(which is what i want!!!!) but i want to know if i should use the crv crank(that i can get cheap) with the b18c motor....the only thing from my motor now that i would use is the head and or the crank(if you think the b20 one isnt good enough) so.if i bore out the 1.8 to 84 MM with a b20 crank? wouldnt that be 2.2 L?????????? or just 2.0? with the B18C motor with b20 crank...would it still be possible/ good idea to rev high.(8000 or even up to 9000??)?????

Depends on how high you want to rev and how long you want the motor to last. You can rev higher and have less wear with a b16 crank. b17 crank is even better.
You can rev pretty high even with a ls/crv crank, since it's r/s ratio isn't that much different than the gsr crank (1.54 vs. 1.57). You have to girdle it though and expect more wear and tear. Remember, you double your rpms, you quadruple your wear (6000 rpms is 4 times more wear and tear than 3000 rpms), so increasing it just a little means alot of extra wear.

the c1 and c5 are the only ones with a girdle. Sure you can go for the c5 but it will be a waste of money because not only will it cost a ton, but the block is the same as a c1. The c5 internals are different but you are replacing the internals anyhow right?
The reason I suggest the b18a/b blocks is to save money, as the c1 block is pretty expensive too. All the b18 blocks are the same except for the oil quirters and the girdle on the c1 and c5.

You gotta get a the c5 block pretty cheap to make it worth it over a b18a/b. I think an entire b18a engine can be had for 300.

well this block has no rods or pistons so he dropped the price down and hes just looking to ditch it. its just sitting around.
it wont be as cheap as a b18a/b's whole engine but I NEED a c engine. i mlooking to keep my vtec and dont wanna bother with ls/vtec stuff.

I'm in this same boat, bore or c1? Damn, some times I'm just like "I'll keep the 1.6, and just boost the **** out of it" But that doesn't help low end, or overall power.

what would you get if you bored out a b16 to 84 mm?????(then you could use a diff crank) you would get more displacemtn but i dunno if you can rev high...

Okay how about this. If you want the least amount of stuff changed, just bore it out to 84.5mm, and you'll be at 1.8L. You'll still be able to rev high b/c your r/s ratio will be the same.
If you want even more, than you will have to bore it out and change the crank to a b18 crank. That will put you at 2.0L. But your r/s ratio won't be as good, and you will need to girdle the block.
Just depends on how much displacement you want and how much trouble you are willing to go to get it.
And get the block sleeved by GE.
