need engine head specs
My dad is trying to put the engine head back together on my 91 CRX. Two of the valves needed to be changed becase they were broken...he says there is an order that the bolts need to be tightened back in (like you can't just go arond clockwise around the head or something) and we also need the torque specs that the bolts need to be tightened to...If anyone can help or knows where I can get this info it sould be so great...(I have no car for the time being til we can get this engine put back together again)
it would probably be a good investment to go get yourself a haynes manual at autozone or whatever autoparts store is in your area, they cost $15-$20 and have more information in there that its worth. as for the torque sequence, you pretty much want to start in the middle and work your way out towards the edges in 3 torque steps(30lbs, 60lbs, 90lbs) kind of like that, but i dunno what the torque rating is because we dont know what engine you are working on, go get the haynes manual!
this is awsome...thanks so much...I was thinking about the manual, the problem is that I have really no idea what engine it has...there are no labels or stickers even the chrome logo is ...I have no clue other than it is a 91 CRX??? BTW, to answer the first question...the same engine is going back in...just w/new parts...I will see about getting the manual..it had crossed my mind...but mortgage, bills and low florida wages...makes me watch every penny...;-)
dont use those specs! search! when I did my head gasket I searched and found out that honda posted a service bulletin and changed the torque steps to three steps instead of the posted 2 and I think the final torque was slightly higher
