Default Please give me some advice on painting

Hey guys,
I just got a del sol.. and the paint job on the car is pretty much ruin.

I usually wet sand the car and then primer.. .. but i saw my friend using the paint remover formula and the paint came right off... do you guys think that will work better to use that formula and then primer?

im assuming most of the guys will tell you sanding would be better just because it gives the new paint a better surface to stick to. correct me if im wrong anyone.

and sanding can help get everything perfectly straight, and even.

sanding helps paint adhere to the surface.

Dont do it the lazy way, do it right.

Sand it down, mark and fix any body damage, prime, wet-sand, base coat, color sand, clear coat, cut and buff. Take your time and dont go cheap...the results will speak for themself.

If you are talking about sanding down to the bare metal you can certainly use the stripper to remove the paint, but you must then flush the surface to completely remove all traces of stripper. Also, you should then sand the surface. At this point, you have a problem. The metal is all exposed and will begin to rust. Quality shops will do the big repairs first (replace body panels) then prime the car with a special primer that has enough shine or "finish" to show body irregularities. Now you do the light filler (and it really should be light and thin) right over this primer to make all the panels perfectly smooth. The entire car gets lightly sanded and then another coat of primer goes on. Now, if everything looks and feels perfect, you can spray color

use a flexible long block to sand the paint. Do not use your hand and a piece of paper. Do not use a solid block. The flexible block method will show low and high points right away. The low spots won't get sanded and the high spots will get sanded down to the primer in a hurry. Once you have block sanded the car, go around and flatten out the high spots and raise the low spots. Then sand again. After you prime the car, sand it again and look for any remaining high or low spots. This is the way to get the surface nice and flat and smooth before you spray color.
