No power lots of fuel smell please help
So I've been having a ton of trouble with my motor.
1) It had a lot of noise coming from the lifters: So I fixed that by doing an overhead on it and the noise went away.
2) Car started to smoke alot
3) Cutting out at random Rpm marks while driving.
4) Can smell a TON of gas when the windows are down and when the car is at idle I literly smell it pouring out the rear end.
5) No power gain past 2k Rpm
I have done a few things that I am able to do due to the fact of where I live and what I have that I am able to use. Reset the ECU, Changed plugs and wires, Fuel filter, injectors and still no change.
Its getting to the point where I think the motor is shot and instead of trying to pay someone to run tests on it I should just scrap it.
Any help would be great as I am totaly lost. Thanks

you can run tests yourself.
For a compression test, all you need is a compression gauge.. I think theyre like 30 bucks or so from autozone.
Then you could also do a leakdown test, which is a little more difficult.
For how-tos on both of those, check out c-speedracing.com and go to the how-to page.

Are there and stored or current CELs? Have you checked the cam and ignition timing?

Sorry meant Valve adjustment. Did a comp test and everything is where its supposed to be. Gonna do the other one once I get the tool. ANymore ideas on what this may be or if you've had a problem like this please let me know
I had a similar problem, horrible fuel smell at full throttle. The little nut above the fuel pump, on the outside, that pushes the banjo bolt down, it was loose and fuel was leaking, on to my exhaust, then atomizing it. pull your seat up, take off the cover panel, and when you turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump will prime. you may see fuel if it is leaking.
Thanks I'll check that in the morning. Also someone said that it may be a bad Cat causeing the lose of power from being clogged.
Didn't get a chance to look at it tonight cause of work but do you think that could foul things up that bad?
Anyway keep up with the help thanks!
