i have the same motor a d16z6, when i start my car first thing//when its cold, its up 2000rpm, once it warms up it goes down, but on average its @ 1000, every now and then it gets where its suppose to be, sometimes i stop at a light and it starts that vrom vrom crap again. i don't know what its called but most of the time its that thing placed on the back side of the intake manifold, and some people have told me that the timing can be off too.or it can be alot of things.check the timing first, and work your way from there, if you fix yours let me know.
