Icon2 inconsistant idle

I have searched the forums and have been unable to find what Im looking for. My car is a 93 Del Sol SI, D16Z6. The problem is sometimes it idles normal at about 650 rpm, other times I have to pump the gas to get it to start and it will idle at about 1600 rpm. When the idle is high, when I first hit the gas it feels like its choking out and wants to die. Ive only had this problem for about a week now, wondering what it could be and where to start. No check engine light comes on at all either. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

yes, stock ecu. The only parts on the motor that are after market is the underdrive main pulley and the intake. both of which have been on the car for over two years with no problems

Turn the idle screw on the carb to the left.

How would the idle adjustment screw help when the problem is not consistent?

Mine's the opposite after a long drive and its all warmed up the idle goes down too much. Like as low as 400rpm but it doesn't die out...just shakes a bit. Motor is a b16a2 eg6 that I just bought.

It could very likely be the throttle position sensor or tps. I had that kind of problem on my ae86 before so...

I had the same problem before. People told me its the TPS but it wasnt for me at least. I changed the spark plugs and wires and it fixed it.

Tune-Up, when was the last time you did one? Fluids, spark plugs, wires, oil (trans and engine) air filter etc.

Going to change plugs and wires tomorrow, oil and filter changed about 600 miles ago. How often should you replace fuel filter? have had the car for 4 years and it has not been replaced

Your fuel doesnt really have any problems if it is stock, i like to change mine every time i do the timing belt, so like ninety thousand miles. Once the car is older than six or seven years i do it every year because of rust debris, dirt, grime anything that might build up over the years. That's just preventative maintenance. When i change it has always been pretty clean. I would change it and then just see how the fuel looks in the old one and if its pretty bad change it every year.
