Default MINI ME

I have yet to find anyone talk about how much more power doing the head swap or the manifold swap. Does anybody know how much of a diffence this will make and is it worth the trouble? ?

What head or block do you have? What head or block do you want to mate it with?

More info is needed.

I think the work is worth it, if you wanna stay SOHC. And it'll cost a lot less than a DOHC. With proper work, it's better than a B16 swap to me.

I can vouch for that. My daily driver eg has a minime. d16z6 head, d16y7 block. It definitely beats the pants off a b16 swap. It's about as fast as ls/vtec. Dynoed in at 178 last time, 168 ft. lbs of torque. But it has zc pistons, skunk2 im, etc. I broke the axles in it a week ago and waiting to get better axles at the moment.

Right now I have a a6 block and Y8 head matted. I dont have vtec hooked up however it definitly breathes much better than the a6 head.

No way his making that much power with a Mini-me. This swap isnt even worth it, its a waste of money. Nothing on a sohc is worth it unless its boosted, the sooner you learn that the better off you are.

"SiR99" obviously has no idea what he is talking about. Ive put together minime set-ups with all oem honda parts nothing after market except for intake and exhaust and ran high 13's so i think you need to respect the SOHC's

y7 block bored 30 over, decked with golden eagle block guard balanced and blueprinted by automotive machine in ft. worth (i should have went with the d15b7 for the short stroke personally; zc pistons on stock shot peened rods; z6 head milled 40 over with ferrea valves; edelbrock valve springs and ti retainers; i was originally running a gude cam but decided to trade it for my bros skunk2 stage 2 cam with cam gear; Gates Racing timing belt; Skunk2 im with jg throttle body; Injen cold air for race weekends (Injen short ram for daily driving); Apexi GT spec header; Powercore cat; Apexi WS exhaust; Hondata intake manifold gasket; AEM fuel reg; AEM fuel rail; AEM fuel filter; 255 lph fuel pump; RC Engineering 310cc injectors; MSD wire, MSD SCI ignition, MSD blaster2 coil, MSD cap conversion with rotor; p28 ecu with hondata s200 tuned by Redline in Arlington; ACT clutch kit; ACT Streetlite flywheel; Fidanza axles (in the mail waiting to be installed); stock 95 si trans (needs an lsd of some sort); custom ground wire kit; energy suspension motor mount inserts; AEM pulley kit; STR tranny scattershield; Top Fuel Neo; must i go on......I'm 26 years old, been working on this car for 5 years and have only begun. I've decided to go all motor and see what she is capable of. As for daily driven, i only live a mile from work. I don't drive it all the time. That's why I've got an 88 crx si for a daily driver. It's bone stock. Nothing done to it period. I'm guessing the compression ratio is in the 13:1 neighborhood. Running the high octanes required is quite expensive these days. I'm getting quite tired of haters. I don't have any probs with the b or k series engines. If this one blows, it's getting a jdm k20a. I ran a b16a in my old crx si with a turbonetics turbo kit. I bought this car bone stock and just wanted to see what i could do with a sohc in all motor form. just a toy pretty much. oh yeah, by the way the dyno runs were done on the stock cx trans. The long gearing yielded a 50 mph first gear pull at around 7800 and almost 90 in second at redline. All i ask is don't hate on sohc. After all, sohc engines have been a standard in civics for a long time. Any comments??

ok this guys motor is completely built, it has nothing to do with a mini me. He could have built a d16z6 and would have put around the same numbers. From your question I was thinking you were only going to swap the head, and maybe get I/H/E and tune it where you would probably get a max of 130whp. I didnt know you wanted to spend thousands of dollars on all the mods he listed.

If you actually do want to just do the head swap and I/H/E tuned, then dont do it because its not worth it. If your planning on building it, you might as well throw some rods/pistons in that thing and boost it for the same price and have 300whp.

I'm not hating on the sohc, its just not worth building it all motor. I feel the same way about all 4 cyclinder cars. Built NA motors belong in V8's. Four cylinder motors need boost to make good numbers (300+whp)

so what if his motor is built? its still a mini me? so it still has some relevance right?? i mean honestly, are you just questioning what hes saying because hes rocking the single bump stick instead of swapping for a b or k like all the other sheep? ftw man....single cams rock
