Default Hmmm....new motor

I want to know if you guys think this is a good idea.
We all know that a GSR swap is more than a B16 swap, about 1g more expensive.
Well I'm thinking, since the B16 swap is $2500(HMO), I'd just get a B16 swap and sell the block and get a GSR block.

How does this sound guys? Thanks.

why not just buy a head for like $500, a tranny for like $500 and an ls short block for like $300 and your set.

honestly.. the b16 block isnt worth that much. no one really wants it. im sure there are some people btha twant it but value wise... b16's are easy to come by. people would rather have a b18a/b/c block.

build an LS/vtec it'll be way cheaper.
hmm here's a breakdown. lets say a $1300(exospeed.com Ls high comp block) head and trans $1000.00, ecu and axles $400, other miscellaneuos stuff like gaskets and new timing belt, etxc $400. $300 new perf clutch
for $3500 you have a fresh new motor with new belts and gaskets and new clutch high compression block too..

just a thought.

Thanks for the info guys, but I dont want to go the Frankenstein route and put unwanted stress on the poor LS block.

Thanks though.

What gen b16 are you talking about, I have a LS with a B16Sir2 and I was faced with the same problem ur going threw, b16, second gen b16s are way better than b18 motors, and with the extra money you'll have after the swap u can put it into ur motor to make it faster, I can take a typeR right now.
I think LS/vtecs are stupid, with all the money you spend you can just get a gsr, for one it may seem cheaper at first, but to do the swap right where it will last longer than 10 thousand miles cost, everyone is giving you prices for just parts, and there forgetting about the other part of building ur car, which is labor, most people cant work on there own **** to that extreme. All im saying bang for buck dont go ls/vtec

wouldnt make much power (low compression) gs-r block with ~flat top pistons, B16A head made for high dome pistons. would be a reasonable setup for turbo (i should know, that was basically my old setup with low comp JEs and it SCREAMED!!!), thats about it

comparison: used GSR, swap over $3500 just parts vs $3500.00 fresh LS vtec motor. no miles on the block. just parts. but ready to drop in the car. all new belts etc installed.

I'd still go with the fresh motor. alot of people dont like the LSVTEC because of bad reputation due to certain engine builders cant put them together right. I've know LS/VtEC setups to last 60K miles so far on a friends car who's vtec conversion was done 3 years ago and still going.
I understand to each their own opinion... but still, bang for the buck.. ls/vtec still good in my book. i'd feel better putting a fresh new block in my car than a GSR swap over that has had at least 30K miles.. and maybe more.

ya working on the pages as we speak, there are some pages uponline.. if you have questions.. we welcome any emails or IM's

actually LSVTEC and CRV VTEC setups are similar in price. of course there isnt a CTR piston option on the CRV block.. but as far as forged pistons, stock pistons and rods, the pricing is all the same.

Well I can use the old SI pistons for compression. I heard using those pistons will raise the ratio more than USDM ITR pistons.
