Default Lower ball joint 93 prelude

during my transmission swap the driver side lower ball joint got broken (the boot) and grease started pouring out. I had one of those fork tools and it still broke. Anyway, i called honda and they don't sell them seperately. Only with the control arm for 375 dollars, expletive that. i called napa and they said 80 dollars but i have to install it into the control arm. I called a few shops and even though its a 5 min install at most they want 1 hour of labour which is 83 dollars, lowest i could get from a reputable shop. the guy at napa said that if the wheel is off and the car is on jack stands i can use a jack to push it into the control arm. Will this work or destroy the ball joint? anybody have any answers on how to install it properly? i was told you can buy a tool to help but its 200 some dollars whicih defeats the purpose of me saving money. thanks in advance.

I would spend the $83 and either buy or rent a press and do it yourself.

Just take a socket that's the same diameter of the balljoint and hammer it out. A press would be easier though.

For replacing the lower ball joint? No. You didn't really change the geometry of your suspension like drop springs or such.

if i rent a ball joint press what are the chances i destroy the ball joint? is it easy to do? the suspension is already all out and i am mechanically inclined. i just have no clue how hard it is to install this correctly.

Sorry i should clarify the ball joint in the suspsension right now is blown. I will be pressing a new one in and i don't want to destroy it.
