Default Lower ball joint install

Has anyone replaced the front lower ball joint on a 4G Prelude? I cannot get the right part, Honda sell only a whole arm and other sellers sell the ball joint alone, but it is always bad joint that doesn't fit, even if it should according to their catalogue. Does anybody know a producer and part number?

I didn't replace mine but mine where changed about 4 months prior to when I bought the car. I bought the car off a friend so I know when it was done. He had a mechanic replace the lower ball joint and from what I can tell the whole lower control arm was not replaced. I highly doubt that my friends father would let the mechanic use any part other then Honda. I know that the upper ball joint must be purchased with the whole control arm. Try calling NAPA see if they have it.

I changed mine... I got hte ball joints fomr UAP/NAPA, and had to have them pressed in.. it was a hellish job that i dont think i would do again. I cant remeber the part numbers, but i know it was WAYYYY cheaper then going with the complete lower control arms from Honda... and it only cost me $50 to get them pressed out and then new ones pressed in.

honda only sells the lower ball joint with the arm. it's ridiculous to even think to pay that much.

plenty of places have aftermarket joints only. but they do need to be pressed in. had this done on my 4g vtec before i sold it earlier last year.

I know that the new ball joint has to be pressed in. Do you know the web addresses of the shops you mentioned?

cool info. I figured one of my ball joints on my 5th gen were bad on the front passenger side.. turn the wheel side to side or go rock that corner of hte car up and down and all you hear is *squeek* *squeek* like a bad spring. Had the dealership listen with the scope and it's the lower ball joint. So off to napa i'll go

I need some dimensions of the ball joint. Does anybody have some old/new one not installed, so it could be measured? I need the diameter (max/min) of the cone and the diameter if the screw. Thanks..
