Default Have some questions about knock sensors and what this plug goes to?????

I found that my knock sensor was never hooked up and I am getting a code 23. I wired one up and plugged it into the broken one I have in the block and the car would not rev past 4k.

There is a loud ticking coming from that area, and I was thinking maybe the knock sensor is not able to get rid of it so that is why I can here it.

I thought it was a valve so I checked them all and checked the lash and there fine. It also does not tick all the time, and if you rev it and it was the valves smacking you would here it.

I also have this plug left over and no home LMK if you know what it is????

Yeah the car is probably in limp mode from the knock sensor, that's normal..Sometimes you can just reset the ecu and it'll rev back up to normal rpm with the cel still on..

That plug looks like intake air tempurature ..i forget the colors i think they're are red/yellow green/white or green/cream

edit- actually i dont think thats the iat, mine looks different

Ok i just looked at my harness that's the fast idle valve ,you don't need it

But i dont see why the bad knock sensor would cause ticking..Unless it's causing timing to be retarded severely,,maybe just leave it unplugged like before untill you can get a new one.......Or if you dont mind being ghetto you could ground the wire out so the ecu thinks it's hooked and doesn't throw a code.

That plug u dont need on a b swap. if the knock sensor is bad or not hooked up it retards timing so it will hardly run.

It's not running real good, but it does run.

Here is a vid, kinda dark but at the end you can kinda hear it.

Would you just ground the wire comeing from the ecu or from the knock?

I took care of the other 2 codes 22 and 17

There is no possible way a faulty knock sensor will cause a "ticking noise.

Check your LMA's.

I did not think of that, will do thanks.

On grounding out the knock do I ground it from the ECU?

More than likely the ticking is your injectors. All of my engines have made a ticking noise around the intake manifold. I even went so far as to replace the lma’s with the h22 ones (used the shim) and even with a new build it still ticks.

my injectors are sometimes like that..loud when cold, then it goes away,,then comes back........You really just have to put your ear right on the injectors to make sure it's them

and about the knock sensor grounding..What has worked for me is hooking up the wire to the knock sensor like normal,,but take it out of the block and ground the actual sensor....If you just ground the wire it won't work,,or it might work for a while but the ecu will not see changing current and probably throw a cel...

grounding it won't do anything. either buy a new one or this: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1181854
