Default 90-91 vs 92-93 head question

I'm building my LS. I can get this 91 LS head for really cheap and its in good shape (mine has a lot of milleage on it). I'm planning to get 404's cam with springs and retainers. Since my car is a 92 RS, would it be better to get a 92-93 head or the 90-91 will do the exact same thing? I just don't wanna lose power cause of the head. I've heard that 90-91 and 92-3 head are different but never knew what was different exactly....is this true?

thanks!

I'm getting the head only, no cams, no springs....nothing. I'll be keeping my intake manifold....and yes, i'm looking for performance (crower cams)

I'm just getting the new head so then i'll be able to build it until its ready, and then swap it on my current block.

I'm just getting the 404 cams, springs and retainers. This built head will go on my current block. There's nothing else i'll do for this summer.

don't get a head thats cheap cause you don't know what condition its in. i'd get a head from jg dynamics. there are really good, the run around $700-$1300. its your choice.

Your going to be losing power with both those heads. Although they can work, 404 cams aren't quite at home without a ported head. If your hell bent on running them stock, however, make sure that the head is in spec. The year it comes from won't be significant.

The heads are all the same, even a 99 CRV head will bolt right on your block, thats what I am doing to mine, you should PnP the head when you have time since you are running with 404s

thanks. I know a PnP would be nice but not for now, can't afford it this summer. I'm sure the 404's will make nice power even without a PnP....i won't get the max outta of the cams but still...

Remember HX_guy? If i remember he had a stock head when he used to have his old LS set up. Anyway, can't be worse than what i have right now
