what do you mean by it sticks? do you have to pull the gas pedal back to lower the rpms back down? if so lube up throttle linkages pivots etc. if that doesnt help than new throttle cables should do it...

Usually happens when the throttle body gets gunked up....take some throttle body cleaner and a rag and clean it.

Spray the cleaner on the rag and open the butterfly and clean all around where it sits at a closed position. I wouldn't reccommend spraying it in the intake as it will just run the gunk on down inside the intake. At most a few puffs with the plate closed. Just use the rag.

leaving the plate closed does nothing...open it and spray your **** in there and use a tooth brush/brottle brush or w/e...its ok to have a little carb clean in there...just not a whole can...

look at the bushing on the pedal end of the cable. if the cable is wearing a groove in the rubber it's time for a new cable.

No even a few good sprays will run the stuff down into the bottom of the intake....I know we did it on an engine and ended up having to pull the intake off because of the egr (it was a diffrent car but same thing I wouldnt want it in my intake like that). Safer with the rag and wipe method...but you can spray some with the plate closed to get the gunk on the outside of the plate if any.
But hey what do I know I only work on hondas every day.....

Anyways it sounds like thats not the problem...I would work the buttefly on the tb with everything connected to see if its sticking there or the cable/pedal. Then you have an idea where it is sticking and can go from there.

who cares if it does? its just gonna get burnt anyway. i would know i work on cars all day long...and it says right on there - throttle body cleaner. and that IS the best and simplest method of throttle body cleaning

im a certified technician and i KNOW what i am talking about. i have done 100s of tb cleaning with no problems

Soak your throttle cable in coolant, and inspect how tight the thorttle plate is inside the throttle body. If it's over torqued it can get sticky.
