D16 engine with DX auto tranny, possible?

Default D16 engine with DX auto tranny, possible?

Stupid question i know.. but my roomate and i where changing his timming belt today and when we got to the tensioner we noticed it was cracked on the block were the blot screws in..
we live in a town were things are hard to come by esp a stock dx bottom end.. i know hmotors has good deals on the vtec D15B. can we use the dx auto tranny with the vtec engine? do i need the ecu or what..?

yes you can use the transmission.
id reccommend using the correct ECU.
You'll have to add wires for VTEC onto the dx harness.

To do it right, the d15b would need an auto p28. Your dx ecu obviously doesn't have vtec. You can, however, get virtually any sohc d15/d16 block and it will bolt right up to your current sohc head and auto tranny. You'd just want to watch out for compression, like a VX block that uses deep-dish pistons. You may want to try finding a sohc zc, non-vtec, which would be the same as a low-milage D16A6 (88-91 Si). You would get a little power increase and be able to keep that ecu.

thanks for the help guys!!

so pretty much to make the D15B long block work w/ the DX auto tranny i will need an auto p28 ecu?

and to HiProfile: its super hard to find anyone local, with decent parts fs.. I live in a world of ricers who beat the crap out of their moms civics haha.. seriously!!
