Default help a newbie build his first system

hey everybody. I'm not really new to the board. I've been reading for like a year and a half but I never really posted much. I'm Paul I'm from piscataway NJ and I drive a 2000 Civic Si. So far I have a AEM CAI, DC sport 4-2-1 header, eibach prokit, tokico blue shocks, Apex N1, sittin on OZ racing supplegeras in 17x7 wrapped in Toyo Proxes. I guess I'm pretty satisfied with how fast it is(for now at least). I need some good sound now. I have an idea of what i want, but I never put together a system before and Ive never really read the audio boards. I have an idea of what I want but I'm not really sure if I should go with it or if I should go with something else. any help/suggestions would really be appreciated. ok, I want the Pioneed DEH-9300 or DEH-9400. I cant find a link for the specs but I'm more concerned about the sub and amp. I want this sub http://www.jbl.com/car/product.asp?p...er=GTI&cat=SUB
it's the JBL GTI series in 10 inch. and I want this amp to go with it http://www.jbl.com/car/product.asp?p...er=POS&cat=AMP
it's the JBL BP 1200.1 . now, the the amp makes 600 watts at 4 ohms and the sub makes 600 at 6 ohms...is it even possible to hook these two up? and if so will I be able to use both of them to their full potential? is this set up ok? will it sound good? can anyone suggest anything better in the same price range? I want to get a component system upfront too but I'm not sure which one to get yet. I'm leaning towards getting a JL audio one, but I'm not sure which model i want yet. aight, any help would be much appreciated. thanks in advance! sorry about the length

Well, you have a few things mixed up here, but you are on your way.

Remember that speakers present the load to the amp, and the amp reacts to it.

That sub can be wired to a 3 or 12 ohm mono load, as it's a dual voice coil sub.

That particular amp is stable down to 1 ohm mono. It will make 1200W at either 1 or 2 ohm mono. It makes 600 @ 4 ohm mono, so it should make between the two at 3 ohm mono ~900W

So, yes, you could hook the two up together.

In any event, make sure you listen to everything before you buy it...golden rule of car audio...everyone's ears are different, so while you can get general opinions on things, you should always check them out first.

Hey Paul, it would probably be a good idea to not announce where you are from and everything about you car. I doubt anything will happen, but it's better to be safe. About three weeks ago 5 cars (GSR's and 92-95 Civic Hatches) got stolen in the Piscataway area in a one week time frame. Watch your ****.

Listen man, I work at Audio Warehouse Express which is on Stelton road in Piscataway. We have very competitive prices and I should be able to get everything your looking for. Rather than type, I can give you some recommendations and advice over the phone. Give me a call at work @ (800) 831-5622 Mon-Fri from 10:00-4:00 and ask for Carl. Check out our site at the link listed below. You had mentioned Polk Audio as a brand you are considering. Although you do not see it on our site we can regularly order Polk, Infinity, Kicker, MB Quart and others. Just let me know if you are interested in anything else.

Carl
