So my 96 Gsr powered Ek is being weird. My buddy and I just replaced the head gasket in it and cleaned out the entire fuel system and it was working just fine. Then a day later, anytime I rev anywhere past 4 grand, my idle hangs up at about 1800-2200. The weird part is that if I turn the key off and on, resetting the ecu, it works fine until it gets revved past that again.... Also, now when I start it, it has a hard time idling on its own until it warms up, then sometimes it surges and sometimes it just idles at 1200ish or so. I am not throwing any engine codes, I've already cleaned both valves, checked for vacuum leaks, etc but to no avail. The only thing I can think of is that the ECU could be taking a dump or maybe the crome settings got screwed up somehow.... Anyone have any ideas?

 

I have had a chip fail on me before...

 

I dunno if its the chip or not but the car does work.... just not well at all. I noticed that sometimes when I try to start the damn thing, my speedo just goes all ape **** for a second, but after I start it, its fine.... I'm not sure what the deal is.

 

my car ran too, just started detonating under boost... tried to read it on a on the chip reader, and it was jibberish, all kinds of arbitrary numbers and letters and ****...

 

Well, its not the chip. I put it on a reader and everything seems fine. Its not throwing any engine codes which is weird to me, otherwise I'd know what direction to go...
