Default Friggin WG dump routing interfering with hot side (pic(

The flange i have for the dump is friggin thick like 14mm, so that allows for just a little more than one finger's width between the flange and hot side. I could flip the WG, then run some goofy *** 180* dump back down, but not stoked about that. Also, i could cut the flange off the mani and clock it, but i would rather not have to customize an expensive mani.

Anyone else run into this problem? How did you deal with it? Pics!

i think you've already named all 3 possible options.

Who made the manifold anyway?

Slomotion industries same guys that make shearer (sp?) manis for DSM's so i was told from the seller. Its a quality piece for certain minus this WG dump BS.

I cannot flip the turbo, the cold side's diameter is larger than that of the hot sides therefor causing even more interferance problems. Not to mention i dont want any piping with exhaust gasses remotly near my compressor...

I think the best fix would be to take it to a competent welder and have the flange chopped off, repositioned, and welded up. It shouldn't cost much.

yeah just cut and re weld the flange.

OR

buy the 38mm to 44mm flange and run a 44mm wastegate

i had the same problem, just that the guy that welded this one placed the gate facing down over top the center cartridge. we cut the flange off and rotated it a few degrees.

this is the end result, sorry for the pic, its not the best lol

thats absolutely awesome!!!

looks like its either that, or cut the flange and rotate/weld it @ 90 degrees

yeah, i think its just a matter of turning the turbo around. that way the housing curls back up under the manifold and not out under the wastegate.

HT user, 'Composimo'(John) made the manifold, when his company was RPI Racing, i believe its now called Icon Auto.

I dont wanna flip the turbo, that changes all my IC piping, DP, air filter plumbing, and puts the compressor in a more hotter enviroment. Gotta respect the enviroment!

I may go with the flange that clocks the WG, simple, easy, effective, non permanant. Plus i dont have an upper radiator core support on my car. PLENTY of room!

WHy not just flip the WG so the outlet faces up and run a 180 bend back down to where ever you're gonna route your downpipe?
