Default Cost of European headlights?

I've got a friend going to Italy for a week and I'm wondering what the cost would be if he walks into the Honda dealer and buys a set of EDM headlights.

I've also heard (sounds pretty strange) that in europe, you have to provide the VIN number for the car before they will sell the headlights.

What I'm after is glass EDM headlights for a JDM front-end conversion on a 89 hatchback.

hey Wes, I got a set of those and they work pretty good, they have a better beam patten then the jdm ones, and you can find brighter bulbs for the since they are H4. I actually got the german only ones that are power adjusting as well. I got them from here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1488686&page=1 Looks like he has another set. I talked to a bunch of other people from the states who bought from him and all was well(I think hes from the netherlands). Package arrived packed very carefully and in less then 2 weeks. I dont think you want to know the price new, I heard after you convert the euro to $ they are like $500 each for the power adjusting ones, I think I got them for $300 shipped.

And if you do want a vin to buy new ones you can use this one
this is from a german car with the power adjusting lights see the sticker on it

Thanks for the VIN number.

What I'm after are the non-power adjusting ones.

The reason is pretty much what you said. They are glass (unlike the JDM plastic ones) and the direction of the light is correct for a car that drives on the right hand side of the road (so that it doesn't blind on-coming traffic).

Plus, as you said, the bulbs are different (and better selection).

Wow Wes, what makes you decide to go with the front end conversion? I'm actually suprised that the exterior has remained so stock looking this long, for me that would be pretty hard to do.

I was actually debating the same thing.

i dont know what the cost is wes, but i can tell you since America sucks right now, (i dont want to turn this into a political discussion bc ill just get myself all pissed off) the dollar is super weak over there....

against the pound sterling its like a 1 to 2 ratio or so.....

1.00 EUR = 1.33575 USD

1.00 GBP = 1.96997 USD

make sure you factor this into your calculations.

Just so others know, here is a photo of my car;

What isn't notable is that I've got a GSR motor in in and that the hubcaps hide the HX rims and disk brakes, along with a lot of other things.

To this date, I've tried to keep it as a sleeper, but at some latter date may do a JDM front end. (I like the looks, but it just screams "steal me")

To do it correct (in my opinion), you should use the EDM headlights due to their aiming correctly for a car that's driven on the right hand side of the road. The fact that they are glass (not plastic like the JDM ones) is a bonus, plus the different type of bulbs that are used.

Wes,
Once again, we think alike. I wish I had the cash for a b-powered, air-conditioned, power windowed EF with rubber motor mounts.
And on the glass lights.

Well see, that's what i meant, i know Wes likes his sleeper look and does a damn fine job of it. But Wes, i have to admit, JDM front or not, your car does still scream steal me, just in how clean it is and how many stock parts there are for thieves.

So either way, we're all kinda damned in that respect. just that if someone ever did get yours, they'd be in for a heck of a suprise once they opened stuff up.

The sleeper works well in street situations, and maybe before when there were a lot of these on the roads and they werent seen as much more than commuter cars.

nowadays, you can still have just a bone stock example, with not a single mod part and still be a target for thieves.

i say if you like how it looks, do it. i'm still undecided in that respect, i like the look, but cringe in an accident, at the fact it may not be easy to replace again later, just back to stock.

I'm not starting a new car!! It's just that every now and then I think about doing the JDM front end. There is a lot more room behind the JDM bumper and it may be needed for a water to air intercooler. Right now, even after hogging out the stock bumper support, all the space is filled up with oil cooler and pusher fan on the drivers side (AC fan) and AC core.

And dang, if you need something to read, grab a beer and go to my site. There is plenty there to keep you "eye sore" for quite some time.

As for thief's; I've got a fair amount of alarm stuff, but I don't like talking about it for obvious reasons.

actually that is becoming less of an issue...as insurance companies now will write off our cars in even the smallest off accidents..and a new stock US front end from honda costs similar to a jdm front anyways

Those are EXACTLY what I am looking for.

I wanna keep my USDM front end but I wanna get a ZC hood and get the ZC Adjustable headlights.

How much were the lights and where can I get a set?

It isnt the cost, it's availability of the JDM pieces. i mean i will have my stock front end, but if i want to keep the jdm front, i dont want to have to hunt around for it.

And Wes, by no means did i mean your car lacked any security, what i meant is basically you have a very clean example of an already high theft vehicle. Adding a JDM front isnt really going to change that. either way without knowing about what your car has in terms of performance, your car is a goldmine of stock pieces.

RSZero1;

I knew what you meant. It really would drive me crazy if the car was stolen just cause somebody wanted my seats!!!

Even if I do end up with a JDM front, I'd keep the USDM stuff, just in case.

(on a side note, my budget just got blown to hell due to stuff that Streetworks is selling!!)

Lol Wes, certainly nothing like a good deal to throw a budget off. He does have some nice stuff up.

And i cant believe I'm saying it, but I really like his ZC hood...

So far anything i have pulled from the car, I keep. Never know what will be needed later.
