Default this has probably been done befor: i am gettin really bad gas mileage.

i have a 95 ls. and i have read some topics but none seem to get as bad as mine. when i fill it up all the way to F i drive normally and on average im getting 135miles. befor it reaches E. is it marking it wrong or wat should i do? how would i know if it has a clogged cat? everything seems to be working fine. any suggestions would be apreciated.

usually the tune up should help.
change your air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor.
If that fails, try o2 sensor... sparkplugs.com has them for like 60 bucks or so

Rather than just replacing parts like everyone else on ht test stuff. Its easy to do a fuel flow test, that would determine whether your fuel system is being restricted, besides the fact that you would have other symptoms with a clogged system. Yes an air filter will get worse mileage but from what your talking about something is majorly wrong, probably not just a simple problem.

First test i would do is to test and make sure your gauge is reading accurately. Fill up your gas tank, reset your trip meter, pack a small gas can with you and drive it til its out of gas.If you can drive another 100miles when the gauge reads E then its obviously a bad sending unit/gauge. Then you can go from there.

I would reset the ECU before anything else. Its free and easy.

im looking at http://www.sparkplugs.com and NKG has a universal for 30, or denso universal for 45, or denso oe identical for 92... whats the difference between univsersal and oem. i mean.. replacing this to save gas is great, but if you spend an extra 60 bucks to save maybe another buck on every fillup, you dont break even for maybe a year.

(edit) i think my question wasnt clear. is there anything inferior about the NKG universal versus the denso universal or oe identical?

Check your tires, particularly the inflation pressure. Also check your alignment in addition to everything already said. Dist cap and rotor. A compression test might be in order.
