Default A6/Y8 Mini-Me B7 T-Belt Too Loose?

Hey I'm in the process of putting this motor together and I read that I needed to use a b7 belt when doing the a6/y8 mini-me. I also own a y8 belt.

When I went to install the y8 belt it was too tight, but could probably be stretched on with some effort.

The B7 belt fit on very easily, but I think its way to loose and the tension is torqued down to spec.

Here are two youtube links to show how loose each side is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAbBhbozYsk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyN51n5slWA

Is this too loose? Are there any other belts that are maybe one toof less then the b7 belt? I have a bad feeling about this and could use an opinion since I searched that this b7 would work.

Are the videos of the same belt? Every thread I've come across says to use the Y8 belt I don't know dude...

Z6 or y8 belt is what you need. It will be a bit tight but its the correct one. Make sure you follow the procedure for installing it properly because that's important to make sure the exhaust side has the proper tension.

Same belt, each side.

I'll try to fit the y8 belt on there, but I hear that its even worse if the timing belt is too tight.

I've read that both the b7and the y8 belt works so we'll see if I can get that y8 sucker on there.

Well I got the y8 belt to work on there with the a6 tensioner. z6/y8 tensioners do not fit a6 blocks.

I also did the valve adj. and I retarded the z6 adj cam gear because I'm using a z6 cam in teh y8 head.

Got everything put together last thursday. Friday came home, and I thought "What the hell, lets drop it in"

Went to start it 10pm friday night. No dice.

Saturday I messed with the timing and swapped dizzys. No spark.

Swapped ECUs and bada bing, fired right up!

Idles perfect. Probly needs cam timing adjusted.

The clutch is ultra touchy and theres no room to ride the clutch.

Overall I'm happy.

Just picked upa fresh hood and fender for my EA hatch today, so I have 4 different projects going on at once.

CRX (needs brakes, wheels/tires, suspension, seats, paint)

EA Civic (needs hood, fender installed and paintjob)

My lil bros 4 dr ef (needs fresh sohc and tranny)

My 71 honda cb750, needs a bunch of ****.

the b7 belt is def way too loose i had it on mine and it felt good the first two days i had it. but after those first two days i started having problems. go with the 92-95 d16 vtec belt of a del sol or civic. i believe that's the correct belt to use! good luck

I have a chart made up of the combinations of timing belts and tensioners

I used the a6 tensioner, waterpump and a6 tensioner spring on my A6 block with y8 head and I used the oem y8 timing belt.

z6 and y8 tensioners DO NOT FIT on a6 blocks, they are too long.

That's all fine and dandy. but I purchased a a6 tensioner, y8 tensioner, b7 belt and y8 belt.

A6 + y8 belt = tight but perfect

a6 + b7 belt = dangerously loose.

Y8 tensioner would not fit on the block without stripping the bolt in.

a6 tensioner=

Even trying to swap out springs, teh tensioner just doesnt fit with that extended arm. Trying to get it in, the bolt will strip (which I've done before and ruined a good a6 block)

I put the b7 belt on the stock a6 bottom end with y8 head and it was dangerously loose/ the video links are up top, my first post. The y8 was more of a pain to get on but i made it fit and it runs like a champ.
