Default help pulling axles

Ok. Got all the bolts off, the 32 mm, the cotter pins and everything. I just need to know the easyest way to pop off the ball joints off the lower control arms without damaging the balljoints.

Thanks.

Use the ratchet method. you don't have to be cautious lol.

And they made a video of it, if your unsure.

I just did it last week, and it worked like a charm!

I tryed every damn method... I cant get my passenger side balljoint separated from the LCA. Ive attempted the ratchet method I watched the video... didnt work.. I used the crobar and busted the balljoint boot, so i went to autozone and picked up a new balljoint for 27$ and I still cant pull the damn thing off. The driver's side came off fine with the crobar hell it poped off when i wasnt even looking... the passenger side is a real pain anybody help?

Turn the wheel away so you can swing your BFH. Hit the part of the knuckle surrounding the BJ. Beat the **** out of it until that damn thing pops out. Just don't hit the threads of the BJ.

Edit: Then use a prybar and wedge that sumbitchin' axle outta there.

lmao why are you hitting your ball joint with a sledge hammer.. jesus christ you HMT style ghetto *****. lol.. dood, just rent a ball joint tool from autozone, and yes you now HAVE to replace that ball joint.

jesus.. lol

as far as mine go, i use a break bar, the grainy end, slide it on top of the lca, and just under the ball joint, kick it down with my foot and it always pops.. i guess it's just something you learn after a while, but for god sakes man go rent the free tool.

When you tried the ratchet method, did you leave the shock fork attached (along with the shock/spring, of course)?? That works a lot better, because the spring exerts a lot more force than kicking it would.

if your hand eye cordinated, all u have to do is hit the knuckle end @ the ball joint a few good whacks and off she comes. i tried the tie rod end remover tool like it stated in haynes or what ever the expletive i used and i fucked up the threads on the ball joint. using a pickle fork you will have a 95% chance of tearing the ball joint boot. this **** is soooooooo simple. thread the castle nut back on it, but don't tighten it up. get a decent hammer and hit the knuckle.

Hit it with a 2 pound sledge, there's a little nub on it, on the front. Beat the hell out of it while someone else pulls up hard on the spindle if it still wont come. Also I've gotten an axle out without popping the LBJ, it just barely comes out if you pop the tie rod and UBJ.

Pounding on the LCA knuckle has done nothing for me... Well if I do it right it should just pop out without anything else right? I've tryed a ballpein hammer and a regular hammer trying to hammer the knuckle.

Oh, and I wasn't hitting the balljoint with a sledge hammer, I was hitting the ratchet with a sledge hammer, instead of kicking it..

If all else fails... I'll just go rent the tool.. haha.

get yourself a ball joint seperator (not the forks), hit the LCA a couple of times with a hammer and use the seperator and it pops right out.

jeeze, just like it says in the link up above, i loosened the castle nut, jacked up the control arm till i could fit the handle of my ratchet in widthways, lowered the jack and waited. bang -tension of the shock popped it right of easy as pie. no damage, hammering, or special tools necessary. if it doesnt work than youve done it wrong.
