my idle on my 97R is jumping up and down from 700-1300. i remember reading that I need to get something clean near the throrrle but i forgot what it was. can anyone help me out here?

More info on what it's doing and the condition of the car would help. This topic has come up many times in the past as well.

Is it getting spark? Is it getting fuel? If so...how did you test this?

 

idle valve (aicv) went out. possibility.

 

happned to my car and my dads, we cleaned out the injectors and the engine wasnt getting enough fuel.

clean out the idle air control valve behind your intake manifold with brake cleaner. Start with the cheap things first.

 

car is bone stock starts and drives. the idle either stays at 1300 or 700 after it's warmed up. sometimes it can be 700 and next stop light be 1300. or it can just raise from 700 to 1300 or drop from 1300 to 700 in a second. it does not keep jumping up and down back and forth. just moves a bit once in a while.

 

Try a new TPS sensor, I've seen it happen many times. Same symptoms.

 

1. Vacuum leak
2. Fast idle valve, Idle Control Valve
3. Air in coolant
4. TPS
