Default Brake Gurus: HELP!!!!

I need some information badly. I recently had a shop change out my pads and rotors (I wanted to do it myself, just did not have the time).

Long story short: I had one of these tabs/clips (circled below) break off the pad. My question is will this affect anything? Do they somehow hold the pad in place or are they simply for installation or some other use?

Please help! I can't drive the car until I know it's safe and I need to go somewhere this afternoon. Any input greatly appreciated.

You can run it with no problems. That is there to make it easy to remove when switching pads without having to take off the caliper mount.

all those do is squeal when your brakes wear out so you will bring your car to get fixed asap.
its like a warning noise maker.

Sweet. Thanks brother!

Can anyone double confirm this? (Not that I don't trust you, or anything.)

You'll be fine, just like everyone else said, that piece just squeels against the rotor informing you it's time for new pads. Most knowledgeable Honda owners usually change their pads before the pads even start to squeel. Go drive your car!!

Thanks for all the help, everyone, and for easing my mind.

I thought I was pretty knowledgeable about my car and then something like this comes up.
