New to Integras
As it stands now, I'm pretty new to the Honda scene. I've done a bit of research here and there but I'm not near as far as I would like to be. But because of gas prices/college, I'm considering buying a 2000-2001 Acura Integra GS-R and I have a few questions that are mostly powertrain related.
1. I know it comes with the B18, but will B16a heads mount up with no problems and is it worth it (with stock internals/valvetrain on motor/heads)
2. The Integras I'm looking at are all in the 40-60k mile range so an engine rebuild for me would be financially irresponsible. But when I start building up (CAI, full exhaust, fuel, ignition, etc) what would be safe parameters for nitrous? (i.e. how much of a shot can a stock motor take reliably?)
3. How strong is the transmission/clutch for the 5-speed?
I know these are very basic questions, but I want to do this car right, and I want to make sure the money I invest won't bite me in the *** later on. All comments are appreciated.

for #1 dont change ur gsr head for an si----if anything swap an itr head instead.
for #2 (already answered) for #3 stock clutch is ok for what ur wanting to do. if u want to upgrade though try looking at an exedy stg 1-2 clutch kit w/ an exedy 9.5 lb flywheel....i have same clutch kit w/ mildly modded 98 gsr and love it.
goodluck at finding a 00-01 gsr w 45-60k...make sure u have a exp honda/acura person to check the car out with u.
one more thing, how much power are u shotting for and what kind of funds are u dealing with?

1. Stock B16a head is a downgrade. Flows less unported, smaller stock cam profile. Best upgrade path would be ITR or CTR cams and valvetrain with your stock head.
3. Plenty strong for stock. There are numerous aftermarket clutches available though, if you make more power, or just like the feel of a beefier clutch. I personally recommend Action's clutches.
GSR's can be extremely fun cars to drive, but they don't make a rediculous amount of power stock. Suspension mods and light wheels with sticky tires can make them a lot more fun, even at stock power levels.
Spend some time reading H-T and you will learn a lot, including common problems to look for before you buy.
Good Hunting.

Another thing to take into account is the GSR's require premium unleaded so gas is another 0.20 more per gallon than cheap ****.
Although they get 31 ish miles per gallon on premium/super unleaded it does cost a little more gas price wise.
I agree that a B16 unported is a downgrade. Not too mention that if you use an intake manifold without IAB's then it may give you problems with your ecu unless you reroute wires. Someone else may want to chime in about those.
If you are worried about spending alot of money due to gas/college then upgrades may not be up your alley.
Any time you start putting on performance parts, reliability gets sacrificed a little.
Stay with oem parts like ITR cams and valvetrain.
Good luck.

I have found two integras, one is at 44k with ugly rims and euros, so I would switch those out with OEM parts, and the other is at 60, but is about 200 cheaper and completely stock.
I am looking to run about a 50 shot just for laughs but from what I have read, rule of thumb is 75 before a new fuel pump is necessary and timing needs to be retarded.
I won't be building up this car too much, just bolt-ons, and thanks for the info on the heads, I have read different opinions on B16 heads/B18 motor mating and I'm pretty set on keeping it stock, if not then giving it ITR heads. New Crowler cams will probably be in order but suspension is my main priority. From what I have read, the Integra is a great platform for track/AutoX, and that is what I want to try to pursue, mostly club stuff. But thanks for all the help!
Oh and I'm going to be on a college kids budget. I hope to save around 3k over this summer but this build is going to be going for about the next year or so until I'm happy with it.
P.S. Any suggestions for coilovers/camber kits?
