Hi everybody,
I have a 97 Civic dx hatch and I want to put new headers on my car. What is the best thing to do since the cat is part of the header on my car?

 

The cat isn't "part" of your header, it's connected with a gasket and flange.

Just buy a header that's compatible for your car. I.e. DX/cx because they have the same exhaust.

I hope you're happy with 2 extra hp because that's all you're going to get from that econo-motor.

For the money spent, you won't see any REAL gains.

 

Either have en exhaust shop do some custom work to make it all work, or get the header for an EX and get the EX cat and exhaust.

I agree, the ex header/cat combo will probably be as noticable as any aftermarket header.

Another thing I recommend is swapping in a y8 manifold and an intake of your choice, it's a very noticable mod that would likeley cost less than $100.

 

I know that the cat is removable but I just need to figure out how to move the cat to a different part of the exhaust. And the reason that I need to do it in the first place is so that I can put an exhaust manifold for a turbo on the car. And by the way, you can get a lot out of that "economy" engine.

 

you should just save money for the turbo kit. it's the best bang for your money.

If you are going turbo, why do you need to put a different header on? Take it to an exhaust shop and have them put on a maganflow cat when you get your new exhaust done.
