Default Re: Removing Ball joint (JDM_95_LS)

There are write ups in the archives....but the easy way to do it is .....

pull the spindle assymbly off the car....bla bla bla..

Get some snap ring pliers and pull the snap ring off the lower part of the ball joint.

Get a 1/2in socket and put it over the bottom part of the ball joint.

HAMMER AWAY

You can press in a new one OR.......

Stick the new ball joint in the freezer for an hour or 2,

Place the new joint in the hole....

HAMMER AWAY...and replace the snap ring into position.

Put the wheel assembly back together...make sure to torque the lugs to the correct specs using only a digital Snap on torque wrench....

There is a Correct way to do this but if you want it done in your driveway this will work just fine.

Oh yea to answer your question...I think auto zone actually rent the tool but you don't really need it to remove a ball joint thats just going in the trash....a few good hits with a hammer and it will pop out.

Hope that helps
