Default Different Tires front and rear

So I decided that I will purchase Toyo Proxie T1R for my new set of tires. The only thing I am thinking about is do I really need new front tires as well. Right now I have Sumitomo HTR H4 (H rated tire) and the fronts are perfect and the rears of course are bald. My questions is how bad would it be if I had the Sumitomos in the front and the Toyos in the rear, is this a really bad idea or can I get away with it?

its not a horrible idea but its also not the brightest.
for a normal everyday car it should be fine.

it should be fine even if you track it... as long as its the same tires front or rear, its fine... but its different story if its different tires left and right... cuz the 2 tires would have different traction and it would ruin your differential..

I wouldn't say ruin your differential but definitely would add more stress to it. Driving down the road in the rain though can cause one tire to lose traction and the other side not. It's nothing to really worry about unless you're running a slick on one side and a pos tire on the other.

You should be fine, because the S2000 doesn't have the same traction needs front and rear anyway. The rear of an S2000 needs more traction than the front: how much depends on many factors, but everyone will agree that there needs to be a traction bias to the rear. The T1R is a fine tire, better than the HTR you have up front.

I think you will be fine with that combination. until the fronts wear out.

it's not a clutch pack diff, it's a torsen. It'll be fine. I doubt anyone will drive the car with a DOT race tire on one side and a hankook on the other to see how the stresses add up after 50k miles.

Looks like I will only be ordering two rear tires, fronts are on back order anyways. Thanks for the info!

just curious, but what kinda driving/racing you do?

Daily Driving? AutoX, Track, quartermile?

might cause a minor headache at an autox or trackday, I wouldn't think it would even be noticed on anything else... *shrug*
