new clutch yesterday and now no pressure in pedal
my car and clutch were fine yesterday morning before i installed a new flywheel and clutch. now i have no pressure in my pedal. there is plenty of fluid and i have been trying to bleed the system and nothing.
there are no leaks either. please help me as i use my car for work and i just called off. can't afford another day off.. please help!!
remember everything worked fine just 24 hrs ago before the new clutch..

if you broke loose the line at the slave there is probably air trapped in the system.
The best method I've used is to force fluid back from the slave bleeder to the master.
The local Vet supply or farm supply should have big plastic syringes for about $1.25
Fill it full of brake fluid and use tubing to hook it up to the slave bleed screw.
You might also check to be sure the throwout pivot arm is working correctly down at the slave.

Yeah, I would double check the throwout bearing and fork. Make sure the throwout bearing is on the fork correctly. You may also be bleeding the system incorrectly. Here is my bleeding breakdown (2 person method):
1. Remove the cover from the Master Cylinder reservoir
2. Top off fluid in the reservoir
3. Put a clear plastic tube on the bleeder nipple on the slave cylinder and place the end in a cup or jar
4. Have helper press and firmly hold down the clutch pedal (all the way down)
5. Open the bleed screw to allow fluid to escape
6. Close the bleed screw
7. Have helper releases clutch pedal
8. Check resevoir and refill if necesary
9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 until no bubbles come out the bleed screw
Don't forget that you may also have to adjust the clutch pedal once you are done.

you shouldent have to ever adjust the clutch pedal unless its being changed, or its bent. Even after clutch replacement, the pedel pivot and adjusting rod are never touched, so why would it need to be adjusted?
because the MC is set to engage right off the floor and i'm pretty sure nobody like it to grab that quick.. thats why i always adjust.. also leaves a slack in the pedal..
i ended up bleeding it by hand. now all is just fine.
except one thing.... my shifter is REALLY STIFF. i put new fluid into the tranny thru the hole on top where the reverse switch goes.. did i put the fluid in thru the wrong place?? i did it on my old civic and it sorled just fine..
also, is it possible to overtighten the clutch?? i torqued it to spec.
the only other thing i thought it could be was the shifter cable where it connects to the tranny, it seemed slightly bent upon re-installation but went on fine.. any ideas?? places to look??
thanks for all the help guys

Your hard shifting is probably because you have too much trans fluid. There is a fill hole on the side of the trans case. It's above the drain plug (obviously) and, if I remember right, to the rear. You open that plug and fill until fluid comes out. Or in your case open it up and wait until fluid stops draining out.
If you torqued the pressure plates bolts to spec they are fine. Even if they were overtight it wouldn't matter unless you broke one/some off.

when do you want the clutch to engage? when the pedal is to the dash? THe closer to the floor it starts to release the better. I dont want to have the clutch 90% out just to get rolling

i think you confused my post..
going to drain the tranny fluid and see what happens..
is there a chance the shifter cables were installed up side down?? not backwards but 180 degrees off?

well the other day i put 2 quarts of full synthetic 10w-30 which is what the book said.
well i just took out the drain plug on the tranny(which is the top one i believe) and NO FLUID came out.
so i take it that i need some more.. going to the store.. keep u guys posted

well i just put in another quart through the REVERSE sensor hole cuz i had nothing to get the oil in through that small *** hole.
NOTHING came out the drain/fill hole still.. my shifting has gotten smoother but the side to side movement is still kinda hard.
any ideas?? i still have to check the one shift rod i think is slightly bent. i just have no idea what it is supposed to look like or even if its wrong.. anyone have a pic of their shift rods where they hook to the tranny?? thanks for your help guys i am almost there!

wow, I should have come back sooner. The drain hole under the fill hole, and you do not add fluid through the reverse sensor hole. Hold off for pics, i'll crawl under my car in a bit and take a few pics.
well it worked just fine thru the reverse sensor hole but i would like to see what you have to post for reference.
Well, if you just kept pouring in fluid then you over filled the trans. Your supposed to add fluid till the fluid spills out of the fill hole. If you didnt fill it from that hole, how do you know theres enough in there.....?
Forgive my dirty trans, I havent gotten around to cleaning it.

actually i did have the fill hole open as i was pouring it in thru the reverse sensor hole. the only reason i did it this way is because i would of had to use a syringe to get it in the hole.. this fill hole had a plate behind the plug/screw and a little pin type hole.
plus my tranny looks slightly different than yours for some reason. my drain hole has a 1/2" drive while the fill hole has a 3/8" drive hole. weird...
edit... i just noticed you had a 91.. same setup though.. thanks for the effort
