I just reciently bought a ej8 for 500$ with a blown y8 in it, I swapped it out with a jdm d15b. I had never gotten the chance to start the car and see if the brakes worked before I swapped. After I finished my swap I took my car out for a spin and the brakes sunk and hit the floor with little stopping power. I searched and came up with the solution that the brake MC could have a blown o-ring or seal in it. I obtained a newer MC and installed it. Blead the brakes, took it for a spin and noticed a little difference, brought it back home, bled them some more and it didnt make any difference. Now my question is, could it be that I need to bleed my brakes more? Could it be another blow MC? (The second MC wasnt NEW but it was pretty new). Could it be my brake lines? (I didnt notice any leaks but I didnt look thourghly on the lines). Another bit of info, is that when I hit my brakes they start to engage were they normally would ( I can feel the car starting to slow) then they stay the same untill the brake pedal hits the floor. Are you losing fluid? Provided that you have been bleeding the system properly and enough, it sounds like you have a leak somewhere.

 

I didnt notice any fluid loss but I haven't checked. Its been raining out here so its hard for me to check. I'll check tomorrow.

 

I'll have to check the brake fluid tomorrow because I again today tried to bleed all the brakes and no luck. One thing I did notice was that sometimes when I stepped on the brake it would engage a little then like it would make a "pop" noise then the brakes would sink again. Please Help!

 

did u bench bleed the mc when u installed it?

could just be the master check that even if your not losing fluid you might just have a crack inside the drum

 

I just switched the Master Cylinder the other day, I dont think I'm loosing brake fluid

 

Im not loosing fluids? I keep hearing I needed to bench bleed my MC before I put it on the booster? Its not my booster because my RPM's donot rise or fall when I hit the brakes. Help!!! Brining it to a shop tomorrow to find out the problem. Hopfully someone can help before I go!!! Could it be because one of my back brakes is completly gone? My ebrake works fine only with one rear brake working? Help need this fixed. TW to see my car and I want this fixed.

 

A sticking or malfunctioning caliper can cause a low pedal.

 

so if u rpm goes up and down when u hit the brakes its ur brake booster ?

 

What do you mean one of your back brakes is completely gone?

 

Bleed your brakes more... when you think you've done it enough, bleed them some more, and when you think you are done, bleed them again. You could have stuck WAY the hell up in the top of the system and it's going to take a lot to get it to one of the calipers. Keep bleeding the brakes.

 

It means you have no pads in the rear.

#1 - Check fluid in MC
#2 - Check ALL brake pads/shoes, replace as necessary
#3 - Check vacuum line from intake manifold & check valve (gray thing)
#4 - Bleed brakes as described in Helm Manual

This should narrow down ALL possible problems.

Checked the MC,
Checked all the pads,
Checks the vaccum line
Blead the brakes sooo many times

 

I agree, it sounds like you've got air in the line somewhere, if it were me, I'd start w/that rear brake.

Umm, yeah . . . if there are no parts or shoes inside the drum, that would definitely cause your lack of pedal

Brought my car to the shop, rear brakes were both broken =[. I would put rear disks on but I dont have the money for it right now.
