Default 250whp stock sohcs any of these motors still running?

Just wondering how the 250whp plus stock rods and pistons sohc ninjas are doing.
My car is getting retuned this week and I am looking to run 15psi through it which should put be easily around the 250whp mark using a IHIvf22. I am am hoping it will survive

15psi all day everyday for the past 5 yrs... I have around 65k boosted miles, not original motor though. the first motor cracked a ring land due to super lean condition that was my fault. but that was 4 yrs ago. that one got replaced with a y8 that went for 2 yrs, it ate an aftermarket camshaft (not boost related), the d15b in it now has been running a couple years with no problems. All stock rod/piston motors... never thrown a rod

There's that black ef hatch (epic tuning decals) with the stock d16z6 in it, ~300whp tuned by T1, I know a guy who raced him at nopi. Its actually been running quite a while now.

Read my sig. Been running for a while now with a similar, but slightly smaller turbo to yours. The sti vf39.

It gets beat on daily on full boost and taken redline constantly

BONE STOCK??!!?? there's no way that a used engine with 10:1 compression will take that! Any idea what I should do to prep my engine for something like that?

Having high compression doesn't make it unreliable...a bad tune will. Oh and stock d series arent 10:1.

no, but you just said sohc...

my sohc made 335 whp and I beat the hell out of it for about a year till it lifted the head and whatnot on a boost spike.

quick question:

in terms of WHP, what is still considered a conservative tune for a boosted stock sohc?

edit: D SERIES SOHC

im running my stock y7 at a conservative 8 psi and it smashes on the daily w/o any problems. before i had it at 13-15 psi and it still did awesome.

it's all a matter of proper tuning my friend.

Cool cheers for the replys

yeah sorry meaning D series engines. My old setup had 250whp and went for quite some time but I made that on another dyno at just 13psi on the vf22, before crashing it. I hope it holds up ok on 15psi, I recall a few guys pushing nearly 300whp be interested to hear how there going.

Well should have results in a few days I hope.

Old graph I have here on 15psi I made 364NM of TQ. Edit that is 268.5 ft lbs.

It's good to still see nice numbers out of Dseries.

My motor made 273whp/227wtq in April of 2006. That same month it ran several mid-12second passes and two 12.1 passes.

I never got another good run after that visit. I was hoping for 11s. Anywho. I have since parted the turbo setup and sold the car. It was boosting 13psi until the day the parts came off, March 31, 2007.

Keep repping SOHCs!!!
