Default Stripped Timing Belt Tensioner -- HELP!!

I put a new timing belt on my car. when i went to tighten the timing belt tensioner, the bolt went in almost all the way but now it just spins and doesnt tight down. i pulled the bolt out and sure enough the threads from thebolt hole in the block came out on the bolt. my friend suggested a heli coil but that would mean i have to pull the motor i just put in to drill out the bolt hole. is there an easier way to rethread the hole or am i F*ed?

yea that sums it up, i would try the helicoil also and if not then tap it to the next size up and use a bigger bolt, but i dont know if that will work inside the tentioner.

heli coil is ur only option really. i had a similiar problem with an oddysey. i was able to unbolt the motor and raise the vehicle up high enough to get a drill in there. u might not have to actually remove the engine.

good luck

alright thanks guys i think i'm gonna try to just take the driver side, front, and back motor mounts out and tilt the motor down and hopefully there will be enough room to get a drill up there.

worse comes to worse pull motor...have a buddy who can tig weld and get that hole covered and drill it out and retap it...last option before getting another motor if all else fails.

Same thing for me on a Honda 3.0 VTEC should apply on 3.2 and 3.5 I think but anyway if you look at the bolt hole on the back side of the motor it's a lip I drilled all the way through and put a nut on the back side of it there's just enough room for that holds great put some loctite on it I've been driving my car over a year like that
