crank pulley coming loose
hey wats goin on. i had my motor totally rebuilt . just got it back from the machine shop 3 weeks ago. i drove home from work its like 2 miles. you know took a shower all that stuff went to go out started the car and i hear mad rattling and my battery light came on. so i shut it off popped the to check it out. the alt belt and ps belt loose and the pulley was leaning on an angle. so i jacked the car up the bolt was only in 2 or 3 threads thats it and the ket popped out. so i moved it so i could put the little metal key in. did that tightened the hell out of the bolt till i started turning the motor over and went out everything was good. then next day went to work i was bored so i advanced the timing alil bit from the distributor because my vtec was a lil sluggish. drove home everything good go to leave my house left cracked vtec and all of a sudden i hear knocking but it sounded like it was from the head so idk what i did but shouldnt of the machine shop torqued the pulley down and how would it back it self out like that. o and now u can tighten the pulley up but if u start the car and let it run for like 10 mins the bolt will come loose again. any ideas or anything
Advancing your timing could have created the knock.
Otherwise, I'd take it to the shop and say "Hey, you guys worked on my car, now it's fucked up"
Someone there will feel obliged to fix your car.

o also its in a 99 si but how much is a 99 civic si shell going for cuz im looking to get rid of the shell or trade it ? just wondering how much is a good price to ask not trying to sell it on this thread? i was thinking 4gs
just because it's an Si doesn't make it worth it's weight in gold.
with 4g's I could find a running Eg with under 100k on it.
So let me ge this straight, i'm assuming you want to pull the motor out of your si, put it in something else and sell your si shell?
Doesn't make any damn sense to me if that's the case.
If someone is going to buy an Ej-series shell they're likely going to be looking for a lighter car than an em1 shell. no civic shell is worth more than 2,000. ANdf an em1 shell would only be so if it was 100% clean inside and out.

You need to hit it with a decent air gun and a good air supply. IIRC, it needs to be torqued to ~150+ lb ft. Tightening it "all the way until the engine turns over," isn't gonna cut it.

ok im goin to torque it down today. but could it havecaused damaged because the little key popped out and the crank and thecrank pulley were mis aligned?
