Default shift linkage or transmission

last night i was driving and i heard something make a noise like *clink* when i shifted from first to second. From that point on when i was driving it wouldn't move in first, it would start to go in second and then it would pick up. Although, i smelt burning clutch. When i got home i looked in the engine bay and i pushed the shift linkage into the transmission and it made a *clink* (i thought that was just me putting it into gear) But, now it will drive in all gears, the problem is that anytime i get over 4-5k the car is revving but there is no connection between the gears because i don't have any acceleration. My dad seems to think when i pushed the shift linkage in it was misaligned and he said to take it to a shop. What does it sound like to you guys. TIA

as true with any problem start w/ the easy first... adjusting the shift linkage shouldnt be 2 bad even if u take it to a shop and have em do it for ya... When u start taking the gears out the trans and replacing forks and gear clusters is when it gets more expensive... usually cheaper do get a remaned trans. (it does sound more like a trans problem tho difficulty shifting and slippin out of gears prob linkage but when ur searching for gears or not gettin any response sychro usually the prob check gear lube for metal shards)

You're roasting clutch? Do you have any fluid seepage? Are you losing tranny fluid and when was the last time you checked the level?
I'm starting to think you have bad seals or something and you're clutch is saturated with oil. If your fluid is too low, I would think that would cause problems trying to shift. If you've got to force the shifter, something is wrong.
