Default First K20(RSX) EG swap

I got a friends RSX that was basicly totaled (so i can pull any parts I want from it)

I need some info on how to do it, I've seen the Hasport write up
but I need info on wiring, which ECU to use, axles, if I can put RSX hub and knuckles on the EG hatch, and how to install the shifter and transmission and some other little stuff

As far as I know you can't use the RSX suspension. The have a complete different system (Mcpherson or something like that) than what comes on the older generation civics. It's possible that someone has figured it out but I'm not sure.

k20.org is a good site to learn about the the k series swap. Also, someone has done the seats into a civic, but you have to custom fab the brackets and stuff. And it doesn't look that good IMO. But hey, good luck to you.

why would it suck? Its still a K and its still VTEC so its 160 HP, Big deal if it were dirt cheap from a freind or free none the less no matter what K series it is I would take that thing in a heart beat base is good enough your only out 35 HP about and you dont have to fill up with premium.

It would suck because it's thousands of dollars in parts, labor, fabrication, and wiring for a B16 swap.

I'm talking about the THOUSANDS of extra dollars past the cost of the motor for a custom header, exhaust, chipped ecu, custom wire harness, mounts, and install labor.

And I wasn't aware that 200 - 160 = 35 ..... might want to touch up on that 2nd grade math.

It's 40 extra horsepower, and a 6-speed transmission. And yes, that is worth far more ... in the same way that a B16B is worth far more than a B16A.

Ok so the Type S has 5 more HP than the SI? Because as far as I knew they both used the same motor for the 06 SI and Type S they only rated them at at 195 the JDM is supposedly 200 HP not the USDM, So if they are oh wow I was 5 off point is 40 Hp is nothing comparing a motor, The Type S goes for 5K while the base goes for 1-2K Who cares about the 6th gear if you want it so bad spend an extra grand and get it there its still only around 3-4K, And adding an extra 30-40 HP isnt so hard there you go you have a type S motor for about 4500 500 dollars saved in all realistics your saying that because you get one more gear and an extra 35-40 Hp on the same motor its not worth it? If thats not worth it than neither is LS/VTEC but I see them poping up like the population in china...

Actually depending on which year that motor is from you could be 50 hp off!
2005-2007 had 210 hp.

Also you don't really know anything about K series do you? The base K series doesn't respond well to bolt ons and to make up that 35-40 or 50 hp is going to take alot of $$$. Unless you go turbo thent that is a different story. Another thing too is the design of the engine. The Type-s was really made to kick the **** out of it where as the base model was for fuel economy. Also 6spd tranny makes a difference as the gearing is shorter meaning better acceleration = more fun!

its also a diffrant kind of vtec it has and has alot more potential then the regular rsx.

basilcy if your droping in a stock rsx motor your droping in a b16a there isnt realy a diffrance in any thing the power bands even look close

i dont see how that could be worth probly 5k more then a b16 but what ever its a type s motor he has any way and im sure he will be happy with it plus were getting off topic.

that extra N/A 50ish hp is a difference of running 15 sec and 12 sec...so yes thats really important

i care about the 6th gear makes the car accelerate faster with 1-6

as people have said its like comparing b16 to a b18c5...that few extra thousand is worth it...since you will be spending twice teh swap trying to get those extra HP unless your F/I.

I don't necessarily agree with that, maybe NA, but NA shouldn't be used much in the same sentence as 4 cylinders.

You can buy a B16 and boost it on stock ints and eat up ITR's all day long for less price than it would cost for an ITR swap.

your semi right. i guess it really applies mostly to K motors. As an All motor K will easily prepel you into 12s with the type S or R motor with minor bolt ons...include Cams and your good for a good daily driven fast motor.
