How to install an aftermarket double din DVD player into 1992-1995 Civic EG Optional Audio Console
Has anybody done it before and what hardware is needed? Please post some how-to/writeups and pictures will be nice too. Thanks!
What Hardware I should use to install a double din dvd player into EG Civic Audio Console? Should I use Metra kit that is for a Honda with double din (99-00 Civic, Accord...etc??)
Thanks
Thanks
bump.. I could use some help on installing Double Din stereo into EG Optional Audio Console please. My big question is that whether I can use the general Metra Double Din kit for honda/Acura in the Audion Console. If it can mount securely, I assume I can mount the double din unit in it securely too. Please advice. Thanks

Easy on the bumps....... It not going to go anywere.... Whoa. First what are you trying to mount? Does the unit have a dd cage? If not you can rig up something with the honda kit. I did one before but forgot since its been so long.

I am trying to mount those 7" touchscreen double din dvd player (kenwood, pinoeer...etc.) and I am not sure if the Metra Double Din Kit for Honda/Acura will mount fine on the EG Civic Audio Console.

I searched but nothing seems relvant in this case (double din aftermarket headunit into eg audio console) and a local installer won't know too because I think they probably never dealt with eg audio console install before...

How about a pix of the "EG audio console" I have never seen one either.
If it has the standard Honda/Acura double din opening then any double din kit should work, custom brackets may have to be made to support the weight of a double din HU.

You have two options for a double din in an eg.
1. Get a JDM center counsel and put it in there.
2. Relocate you heat/ac controls and mold the screen in to the hole.
If you dont know what you are doing I suggest you take it to someone who does because if you screw it up its going to look like crap and it wont be to cheap to fix. If you are dead set on doing it yourself and you dont know what you are doing than just stick with a single din.

I have already gotten one in my car. I am asking if I need a Metra kit because the jdm/usdm audio console has an opening size bigger than an aftermarket double din unit.

why not just take it to the installer and let him do his job. Its not that hard to do once you have the car there. Or are you trying to do this yourself.
you need to bend backstrap into L brackets. then try to line up the l's with the iso holes in the deck and with the 2 phillips bolts on each side if the front console bezel. that way you can bolt it in. then grind the trim ring that comes with the unit till it fits to fill the gap around the face. any good installer can do it.
