ACT clutches = junk
Yes, this may be posted in multiple spots but I want the point to get across. Hopefully more people don't take the chance with ACT.
Their clutch has let me down. Customer service has let me down. They acknowledge that the clutch looks great from the pictures(
) and admit that the springs should not rattle like mine do. They however will not do anything to help remedy my immediate problem. I am now forced to purchase another clutch plate to hold me over until it's time for my next clutch install which will NOT be ACT. I need a clutch plate NOW and don't have the time to wait for them to recieve it and determine that they aren't going to do anything about it anyway(which is pretty much the impression they gave).
The motor is all stock and is not making anymore power than any other B18c on here.
Car has extremely limited miles. Autox'd twice and otherwise driven 5 miles to and from work. Clutch springs should NOT just shake them self loose like that.
Exedy will now receive any of my funds in the future.
I read similar reviews in the archives AFTER I installed it, and now you can add this thread to that list.

that sucks. I had nothing but good things about by ACT. Rode the ish out of it with my JR Supercharger. It held the power down nicely. Sorry to hear about your experience. Just remember, nothing is ever perfect just good enough for us not to bitch about it. HAHA.
I've had ACT street set up...Clutch didn't do too well in my mild built gsr motor...
...I had clutch problems since i've installed it....Went with Exedy stage 2 clutch for my built motor and been very happy since..

ive got well over 50k miles on act clutches all making between 250-350 hp. never had one break. i also went unsprung on all but one of them. sprung disks have the problem u did, not act but other companies too from what i understand
Huh, thats odd. I have used ACT exclusively for the past 6 years in both DSM's and Hondas and never had a single issue. I only use unsprung disks though so that could be why.
Hope whoever you go with next will work out better.

Could have been a defect of some kind hell it could have been a million things that could have caused it
However at the end of the day nothing is perfect and the old saying is true you race you pay! (which really should be changed too you drive you pay lol) but i hope you get what i am saying
the only issue i have here is that if i read correctly that ACT did not trying too make things right by you but then again that dose not surprise me because we live in a chicken **** business world were most people only care about the $ and not the customer
That’s not too say that everyone in the business world is like that But so far in just the last few months I have heard people talk crap about GE and crower and many other companies which seem to also be very popular with people!
What I would do is think about giving them a second chance hell make a thread about it document it or something there for it this happens again you may have a case against them
Just my thoughts not trying to hate or anything…….

ive had act fall apart also. in a nsx and 2 b series the b series the disks ovaled out and the springs fell out wrecking the rest. The nsx disk friction material came apart with only light use.
Ive got a new Action 2ms now its stiff as hell and grabs harder than anything ive ever had. i like it.

Look at it from their point of view, someone calls in, states their cllutch failed, and they want a new one right away. They have no way of determining if this is a material failure of their clutch, or it was customer abuse/improper instalation, ect... you honestly think they are going to send you a new clutch without a chance to inspect it? They would go under in no time if they were to ship out a new clutch everytime someone has a complaint.

so very true as i have said before
something that people never really like to think about or address is when your moding or trying to extract extra performance out of an engine you are basically walking the line between reliability and performance if your worried about reliability do not mod your car leave it stock simple as that!
In other word the old saying "you cann's have your cake and eat it" is so very true
