Yesterday, i was driving over to my friends house to pick something up. I left the car running, went inside the house, got my stuff and got back in my car. As i started to leave, my car started to shake as if it was about to stall, but it didn't. When i stepped on the gas, the rpm went up and then went down really fast. The rpm went down so fast that i couldn't even rev up the car. When i was driving in 3rd or 4th gear, the car shaked when i stepped on the gas as if i was still in 1st gear. I stopped at a parking lot and turned off my car. After a about a minute, i started her back up again. I rev the car up and everything felt fine. The rpm went up and this time it went down slowly like it should of. I started to drive home and everything seemed fine. My motor is practically brand new. It's a 2000 b16a2 with around 20,xxx miles on it. Does anybody know what was wrong with my car last night?? Will it ever happen again?

 

Was it misfiring?

 

What would cause my car to misfire? And how do i fix this problem? Thanks.

Well i drove my car all day today without any problems. Hopefully it wasn't anything serious.

 

Sounds like a fuel injector or two got stuck. It happens. Next time you have the running problem, pop the hood and tap the injectors with a wrench (not real hard though). If it runs better after that, you have an injector (or more) that is starting to fail). Later.

 

to check the injectors, take a long screwdriver and put the tip against the body of the injectors. Put your ear against the handle. They should all be making a "tick-tick-tick" sound.
