EP3 Header
Didn't see any topics for headers in this forum so here is my question. I have a 2002 EP3 with an AEM V2 Intake and A'pexi WS2 Cat-Back. I am looking for more N/A Power and thought Header would be next step. I dont know if I should look into a 4 into 1 or a 4-2-1 Header. Also variance/opinions of brands trying to spend aprox $300 for the header shipped of course excluding any labor. Any Help on this topic greatly appreciated.
Well...here is a question for you...Do you want more better power and torque which may illegalize your EP...or just a "little" better flow to support your other mods?
For more power and torque: get a race header...save more $ for a new one or if your lucky you might find one used...This is only for a DC race header...best bang for the buck...
For a "little" better flow to support your mods: any short header will do...If your lucky, you might even find used ones for $100 - 200...
My set up for my 03EP is Injen Sp cai, comptech short header stainless steel & HKS Hi-power exhaust...dynoed 153.1 whp on dynapack...Lost lots of low end torque but gain it all back in the mid to high end...

forgive the ignorance; but are these assumptions in terms correct?
Shorty = header that will plug into the cat/test pipe?
Race header = header that includes an attached test pipe to improve flow?
I cannot access EPHatch forums unfortunately because of a registration error
, and I don't know how well partial k20a3/k20a2/k20a frankenengines are covered here.
Can a header from an a1-a2 just be attached to an a3 without any issues, and in that case, what other parts can 'just be swapped' without too much fiddling? And at what point is a re flash of the ECU required to take advantage of the modifications?

Correct, a shorty is just the header portion.
Race header replaces the header, down pipe, and cat (thus eliminating the cat altogether)
If its a shorty header the you cannot use the same on for a a2/a3. Hooking up to the block is no biggie theyre all the same. But the a2 and a3 use different exhaust components like the cat and catback. The a2 catback is shorter than the a3 catback, or is vice versa, i dont remember.
So for a shorty header you do need to be specific in which one you get. Race header replaces the header and the cat so you can get the same one for the a2 / a3. But once again, fitment issues depend on what catback your running.
The reflash on helps exhausts with the a2. the a2 has vtech on both in the intake and exhausts sides of the cams, the a3 only the intake side.
