still failing BAR with JDM GSR Swap
I am really confused now.
After failing BAR 5 times, I am really stumped.
first time was for wrong cat, and visual issues.
second time for emissions.
third time for emissions.
fourth time for emissions.
Since then i have changed out my cat with autosound cat, o2 sensor, distrubitor cap, iridium spark plugs, ngk blue spark plug wires, seafoamed, spoon low temp t-stat and mugen low temp thermoswitch. ran SMOG tests with 92 octane and SMOG tests with 100 octane.
Any ideas how i can finally make it pass?
latest numbers are
15mph -->Failed
HC -> 136
CO -> 0.49
NOx -> 1840
25mph -->Passed
HC ->54
CO -> 0.10
NOx -> 231

After another dose of seafoam.
new numbers:

HC -> 106
CO -> 0.31
NO -> 911
25mph -->passed

CO -> 0.10
NO -> 260
just gonna give up and throw a hondata s300 and lean the shiet out of it.

Get rid of the low temp t-stat. If the ECU never gets out of open loop, you'll run rich. Run the correct octane and make sure your timing is right. What ECU are you using?
What kind of tranny you running? Sometimes using a different tranny than the engine it is made for can throw off the speeds cause of the different gearing. Best thing to do is get a Hondata S100 and get a partial and full throttle tune. That should clean things up if it the gearing that is throwing your smog readings off.
The lower the octane, the quicker it burns. Run 89, or 87 if it doesn't ping. A gsr engine for smog is 16 +- 2 degrees BTDC. Set it to 14, and run 89 octane and that should drop your results low enough to pass.
BTW, I passed BAR with a B16 in my 88 CRX. I ran 87 octane, had my timming set at 14 degrees BTDC, and was using a 00 SI cat with the 02 bung plugged and installed upside down to bolt up, and still passed. The CAT had 45k miles on it...
Also, I passed the first time.
