I have something loose in my dash it moves back in forth...but only when the car is on the edge. Needless to say i've dealt with the problem for a while but since expo is here i want it fixed before i go. So...I've almost comitted to taking out the dash cause I can't find the SOB anywhere.
But looking at this picture I think the bolt or whatever is in that compartent. It sounds like its metal on metal and can move back and forth about 3 feet. That white "tunnel" would be prime spot for it... So question is can I get to that without taking out the dash? Can I go through the hood.
Thanks

you will have to pull the dash to get access to that. that is for your defroster on the windshield and side windows. sorry

Sure. You could drill a hole through the firewall.

if you are careful putting everything back together and snug bolts/screws properly, it would actually be more likely to stop all rattles and squeaks.
it's really fairly easy to pull the dash.

http://www.hondahookup.com has the ITR/Integra Helms manual.... I downloaded the file myself and will be taking my dash out soon for a safety modification.

I already have most of the dash taken part. Just havn't taken the 8 bolts out, radio. Otherwise mostly everything is out from me trying to trace down the bolt.
I already have a helms and have looked at the procedure. It doesn;'t seem hard but like i said if there was an eaiser way i wanted to know it.
So looks like the dash is coming out.

And what I can't figure out i show it got in there or where ever it is. I don't have people in my car that would just drop a bolt down the dash for jokes. So...I don't know.

I hear that dude. I rolled in my R for months listening to a metallic rattle rolling around "somwhere" in the car whenever I'd accelerate or brake. It was so annoying. When I started ripping things apart, I found a 6" socket extension and 10mm socket in the floor pan! I don't even know how it got there, because it was hard as hell to get it back out. I feel your pain man.

Theres a little black cover right in the middle of the dash, pry it out with a screw driver and stick a magnet in as far as you can get it (a reasonable sized one) and then go out for a drive on the twistiest road you can find and hope that what ever it is rolling back and forth gets caught by the magnet.

you can access that area by removing the black "cowl" under the windshield wipers.
