Default K&N Filter

Hi my friend has a k&n filter and it needs to be cleaned now. I have the oil spray (used to have k&n filter) but I don't have the cleaning spray and my friend does not feel like going out and buying it since he is selling the car.. Can I rinse it with water and soap ?

I tried to make him go buy the recharge kit since its sooo cheap but he does not listen so whatever lol.

Simple Green should work fine. Just make sure it's thoroughly rinsed and dried before re-oiling.
