Default Noob ?....

whats the difference between a shortblock and a longblock...this guy is selling a b16 shortblock( just the block) how much should i pay?/ thankss

shortblock is without head, longblock includes the head.

well. that depends i guess. you can get the whole swap, ecu, trans and all for 1200.. the head i would say is the most valuable part. i can tell you that demand for a shortblock b16 is low. people who blow up their b16's usually swap the bottom out for a b18 or b20.. i would offer $150 and see if the person will take it. but im a low balling bastard..

my question is "why is this person selling the block?" .. if he says ls-vtec, then thats a good answer, but if not.. then i would be suspect.. check to make sure the crank turns freely before you buy it. if it doesnt, offer $10 and walk away if he or she says no.

b16 shortblocks are nearly worthless.... $100 tops, and it better be in damn good shape at that

Yeah, i've picked up 3 b16 shortblocks for like $50 each in the last few years. I'd probably pay $100 if the shortblock came complete with internals and pan and was in decent shape. Nice thing with shortblocks is shipping isn't too bad, usually about $50
