Knocked a hole in my oil pan d16z6, checking to see if any d series oil pan will fit it? nonvtec models 88-00 and vtec models. First time I have had to replace the pan, just part of daily driving a slammed car I guess. Thanks for any help.
I know for a fact the d16z6 and the d16y8 have different pans taht WILL NOT bolt up to eachother. I had one and i assumed it was the same thing and it wasnt even close to working. the z6 is made of steel and the y8 is made of aluminum.
What he said is true. But also, I had two black oil pans (not aluminum) that didn't bolt up. It was a tapped stock pan that came with the turbo kit I bought, and didn't fit on my Z6. Not sure what it came off of though.
the non-vtec d-series oilpans wont fit. i have one sitting in my shop along with a tapped z6 one and i tried putting the non vtec one on and the oil pickup slot in the pan isnt wide enough so i had to run the tapped one.
