Default Problems reving past 5k at wot still

97 honda del sol si sohc-vtec obd2
greddy turbo kit
adjustible fpr
stock injectors
walbro 255 intank pump
vortech 12:1 fmu
missing link

well my problem is that when im giving it full throttle at about 5k rpm the car bogs down, my 5" tach starts redlining and the shift light blinks but my stock gauge tach shows about 5k still. But if i give it only little throttle it will rev past 5k and no problems. Anyone have any clues? I was told it might be the head gasket so i ordered a new one so it should be in a week or two. I also ordered a vafc so that might help me control any fuel problems. If anyone has any ideas i would appreciate it.

walbro and 12:1 FMU says rich to me. Do you know your FP? at idle? at 5K? If it is at or about 100PSI then your rich and its bogging you down.

My friend had the same problem. Your spark plugs, It might be overgapped. So at higher RPMS, its harder for it to ignite, making you run rich.

Try putting in some NGK plugs, that are not 2 steps colder. And see if that fixes the problem.

well my problem only happens at wot, giving it a little gas it doesnt have that problem.... i tried bosch platinum and double platinum plugs both gapped at .30 and still had the same problem

its just weird that my 5" tach jumps to redline and my stock tach doesnt....ill try ordering 1 step colder ngk plugs and im putting in my fuel pressure gauge (above fuel filter).

i think i found out the problem today, i hooked up the fuel pressure gauge today and i dont think my fmu is working

vortech 12:1 fmu, i took the top off and pushed the disc down and the pressure jumped up to 80-100...it kinda made a popping noise when i pressed it down, required quite a bit of pressure. So i took off the bottom part of the fmu and saw that the silver disc is bent. So my question now is does anyone know what i should do to get the fmu fixed? I have an apexi vafc coming in tomorrow...i think i just might get the fmu fixed and sell it and go with the bigger injectors/vafc route though.

Honestly, if there is a way for you to bypass the FMU, do it. I have been running mine for a long time and it never seems to perform right. My lower rubber disc just tore and now I gotta find the rebuild kit. So the injector/v-afc route= no FMU ?
