Turning Up Fuel Pressure?????
I am putting my head back on my car finally. After waiting almost a month for PYR. The head looks really good, I would post pics, but don't have any type of host yet. Anyways, since I got the head port and polished and I am flowing alot more I now need to up my fuel pressure. Just by going by my mods, where should I put my fuel pressure??? Where I live there is no place to tune my car.
Fuel tunning is not pie .. but you can unlock some ponies from tunning your setup ...
a complete fuel system overhaul would be:
Upgraded Fuel Pump
Large Bore Fuel Rail
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Performance Fuel Injectors
Fuel Pressure gauge
Fuel Curve tuning device
since you have a GSR (B18C vtec) the best fuel tuning device for the money i am told would be the Apexi VAFC and for nonvtec'rzz the Apexi AFC
its some money ... but you have definately increased your airflow dramatically ... i would recommend:
Larger Throttle Body
Performance Ignition
then i would do all the fuel upgrades at once .. and tune it with the apexi
unless you have a barely streetable head porting job done, you can probably skip the larger fuel rail... just get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a V-AFC and some luck on tuning
Yeah I got a friend who's selling his VAFC. I will probably buy that since I also put the skunk2 mani on, I need to change my vtec crossover point to about 5600 or 5700 rpm. As for the B&M fuel regulator, Peter Yem said about 43psi would be good for the pressure, but I am thinking maybe a little higher like 45psi. I need to get an ignition system, but for now I am putting in Bosch Platinum plus 4 plugs and I just ordered some magnacor wires. Anyone else got any suggestions for me about fuel tuning or anything that would help me

i beleive stock fuel pressure is 42...so 45 would be ok. And as for the any upgrades you need. I would defenitly get a bigger tb(64mm would be good), since u have the s2 intake manifold. As for all those fuel upgrades, thats not neccesary. If you are going to build up your engine alot, then you would need to get the fuel pump and ignition. But for your mods right now, u dont really need anything else. A vafc would be good, and the magnecores are nice. As for the bosch plugs, people have told me to stay away from those. If you havent gotten them, i would buy some ngk's instead. hope this helps

i too have been thinking of upping my fuel pressure, but i dont know too much about any of that stuff. i've been told a B&M fuel pressure regulator will do just fine for me. is there a step by step procedure someone could give me or posted online somewhere that tells how to install such a thing? any help given would be appreciated, thanks!

The B&M comes with instructions, you need to cut the hat off the stock FPR and bolt the B&M onto it. Be careful when doing this as you do not want to damage the piston in there during cutting (dremel or hacksaw) It's really easy. 42 psi sounds kinda high for that setup. 38 sounds more reasonable (vac on) But keep looking, I'm not an all motor pressure expert. You don't need all that crazy **** listed about fuel upgrades for IHE and PnP head ! Some 310 injectors and a V-afc would suffice. You can upgrade the pump so as to not overwork the stocker. You won't see any performance gain from the plug wires without an ignition system (MSD,icepak, jacobs)
You can get instructions on http://www.c-speedracing.com That's a good site for install how-to's. But anyways about the fuel pressure, I am still in the works of putting my car back together, but as I suspected something did go wrong. Napa gave me the wrong timing belt so I just called acura and had one goldstreaked by alaska airlines which should be here today. I finished installing the fuel regulator in the mean time, but I think I'll just put the pressure at about 45psi. Since I have I/H/E, skunk2 mani, and P&P head. And I plan on taking a road trip to WA to get it tuned towards the end of the summer. By then I should have skunk stage 2 cams and a chipped ecu. if anyone has any other suggestions let me know
