so my speedometer suddenly stopped working in my 90 integra, i can hear a grinding sound at low speeds. im not sure if its the cable or is there a gear in the tranny or what. where should i start? any help is appreciated.

 

speedo cable poped out
push it back in its on the back side of tranny above axel
make sure the clip is still there otherwise it will pop out again at high speed

 

^^ That's the ticket. I actually disconnected it from the tranny end of the cable, pushed it firmly into the firewall, then carefully reconnected it back to the tranny. Haven't had a problem since, except it does need to be relubed, one day soon.
