Roadtrip planned. any way to increase mpg short-term? other questions too
So first off here is my car specs. 88 crx hf, 13in steelies w/ skinnies, obd1 converted, b18b, synthetic oil, YS1 tranny(AHHH), STRIPPED(in caps for a reason), lexan rear hatch, stock header and shitty intake, custom 2.5 exhaust, no ps or ac, blah blah blah. oh and 02 sensor is good
Now for the trip; 1000 miles all highway, downhill the whole way(i do have to return though!!). Money is TIGHT! can't spare much cash right now, so every addition will have to be wieghed before hand; cost/gain. i do not have an AFC and i can't afford one, so thats out. I need to make it out there on as little gas as possible, anyone have some short term tips would be good, any other ideas would rock too.
Here is what i have so far.
1) High tire pressures, as high as is safe.
2) Wheel alignment(have some irregular wear)
3) Rear diffusor, slits in rear bumper to reduce drag
4) intake system(now i have a filter on the TB lol) maybe CAI
5) front airdam or lip, reduced drag
6) Lowering springs would be nice, but unrealalistic($$)
7) driving style(no lead foot), what speed/rpm is optimal?
Well thats all i can come up with right now. As of current numbers im getting about 200-225 miles to nearly empty tank(hf tanks are small) this calculates out to about 27-30 mpg when i fill it up. Is this bad or okay for a 1730lb(measured) crx with b18 swap? most driving is "spirited" city driving. so a light foot would certainly help.
Well if anyone else has any ideas feel free to share, even if its impractical. Thanks for the years of help H-T.

I have gotten slightly over 40mpg with a much heavier da integra with the stock b18. It was all highway and just cruise, try not to slow down or speed up too much. Don't go over 65mph if you want good gas mileage. Also you dont want a CAI you want an intake that sucks hot air for better mileage. Use thin oil 5w20 or 5w-30 also. make sure the e-brake doesnt drag either.
Remove pass. side mirror.
Drive at 65 or 70 MPH
Don't cut holes in rear bumper.
don't use AC
Drive with the windows up.
remove windshield wipers ( use rain x)

Avoid going on and off the throttle, as that wastes a lot of fuel. Keep the rpms steady, and increase gently only if needed
If going downhill, keep it in gear and let off the throttle. That leans the hell out of the engine.
